Project Management
Accredited to ISO 9001:2008 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007, READ has experienced project managers and engineers capable of managing all aspects of technical project delivery including client interfacing, vendor management, design and production management and test and verification. This ensures the successful delivery of product and equipment to the operations departments and solutions to the client.
READ has a proven track record of completing projects for cased hole logging, seismic and HETS expandable services. Currently, our team of 17 engineers in Aberdeen manages projects relating to HETS and Cased Hole services whilst our seismic experts reside in Oslo focusing on the PerForM™ project. Example projects to date include:
- SlimHETS: The Slim HETS project evolved to miniaturise the existing tools for 7” tubing to create a 3.5” WPP and HETS tools for setting internal patches in 5.5” and 4.5” tubing. This project had five external sponsors, a significant amount of externally contracted work (five main vendors) and internal design and testing to be managed. In Q3 of 2009 this project was brought to a successful conclusion.
- PerForM™ Permanent Downhole Seismic: PerForM is a seismic acquisition system for permanent installation inside a well. Up to 120 levels of 4C seismic nodes consisting of 3 geophones and a hydrophone can be deployed in the well. The system, which will be used for both seismic survey data acquisition and microseismic monitoring, is scheduled for its first deployment in Q2 2010
- Downhole Seismic Source: READ’s project team managed this development for improving the reservoir description away from the borehole, to be used as a tool for increasing oil recovery (IOR) through better well and sidetrack placement. During the testing phase, Finite Difference modeling was utilized to help direct the design of the tool and to access the source signature and output.
- High Pressure, High Temperature multi-finger calipers – Utilising electronic and metallurgy knowledge within the projects team, the existing MFC products were modified to ensure rating to 205°C (400°F) and 17,600 psi (1213 bar) for up to 15 hours. Sensitive components were protected using the latest flasking and heat-sink technology, enabling the tools to survive for at least 15 hours at their maximum rated temperature
