Ruggedised CCL 

READ’s Ruggedised Casing Collar Locator (R-CCL) tool is a specialised logging device - the output of which is used to determine the position of movable inserts within downhole completion devices.  It is commonly used in determining whether Sliding Sleeve Doors (SSD) are open, closed or in an intermediate state.  To obtain the results, the tool is logged across the target SSDs and when the data is downloaded from memory at the surface it is compared to a library of fingerprints (of the same downhole components in their various states and recorded under controlled conditions).  A field report of analysed results, confirming the position of the sleeves and showing recorded data overlaid on fingerprints for visual verification is also provided shortly after the analysis.

The robust design of the R-CCL protects against rougher logging conditions during deployment in a carrier on coiled tubing or slickline for sleeve manipulation operations.  Two types of carriers are available, the standard R-CCL and the slim hole (Short) R-CCL. (See Specification Sheet for details).  The larger 2.875’’ carrier allows fluid bypass.

The READ R-CCL combines a temperature sensor to aid in diagnosing well production features such as locating fluid entry/exit points and cross flows.
