HETS-ZIB™- Zonal Isolation Barrier

Steel Zonal Isolation Packer - Compliant, Durable, Efficient.

The HETS Zonal Isolation Barrier (ZIB) provides an inflatable permanent metal barrier to annular flow in either open hole or within tubing / casing.  The ZIB is inflated using the HETS tool or by pressuring up the well (if the liner has sufficient burst strength).  High zonal isolation is achieved via contact pressure with the formation or tubing / casing.  This is determined by the final inflation pressure and formation compressive strength.  The goal is to achieve maximum acceptable formation contact pressure.

Given the high contact force with the formation, there is no movement of the ZIB in relation to the formation due to thermal expansion / contraction forces with the liner / casing when switching between production and injection.

The ZIB can be deployed and inflated immediately, or if used as a contingency, inflated when required at any time in the future. ZIBs have the potential to replace cement in complex multi-lateral and horizontal reservoir liners without rendering the sliding sleeves inoperable as in the case of cemented completions.
