READ Testing Capability

The READ group offers a wide range of testing capabilities by means of two dedicated pressure test bays and load test frame (TCTF). These allow the detailed evaluation of test assemblies under combined gas/liquid pressure, load and temperature scenarios. Given that the pressures and loads can be significant, all data retrieval is recorded remotely by our dedicated test monitoring module which ensures safety for both personnel and equipment at all times. During testing these systems are also capable of monitoring the displacement and strain from a test via a dedicated liner variable displacement transducer (LVDT) and strain gauging set-up.

The TCTF in particular can handle test piece diameters and lengths of up to 30 inches and 4.0 meters respectively. In terms of load application the frame can cycle from 800 tonnes compression through to 740 tonnes tension. Providing the loads required are a pair of dual acting hydraulic rams comprised within the frame which through a moveable actuator beam and clevises, transfer the desired load to the test assembly.

The above facilities have already successfully qualified a number of D + E products which include the ZIBS, Liner Hangers and the External Patches.
