The HETS Well System - solid expandable inspiration!

Strength, seal, simplicity

The HETS (Hydraulically Expandable Tubular System) product family offers a flexible set of solid expandable well design  and construction tools that can significantly reduce both cost and risk - for TTD, deep, slim, extended and horizontal well construction (as well as conventional workover and repair). With HETS solid expandables, wells can be designed from the bottom up with optimum production geometry, using standard grade casings, whilst reducing overall casing sizes at the top of the well – slim at the top, not at the bottom.

The HETS Well System offers:

  • An external casing patch qualified to ISO13679 V0 (modified) and tested up to 8000 psi gas;
  • An ISO 14310 V0 liner hanger qualified for casing drill-down, that can be set at any depth and has no moving parts i.e. no slips;
  • An annular sealing packer for zonal isolation tight-clearance casing systems that can remove the need for under-reaming or cementing;
  • An internal patch with patch-through-patch capability;
  • Flexibility in design and construction by providing built-in contingency;
  • Simplicity of design that means reduced operational risk;
  • Design and specification adaptability that lends itself to well-specific customisation of rating and materials;
  • Structural integrity by using standard-grade steel components e.g. L80, P110 etc.

The flexibility of HETS deployment options on wireline, coiled tubing or drill-pipe offers optimised planning in the construction process.  This is the first system to offer true expandable tubular solutions on wireline and coiled tubing, presenting the possibility of deploying systems into live wells. HETS offers new solutions that enable the Slim Well as a real alternative to the ‘monobore’ well and presents alternative methods to extend the design envelope for deep-water and deep-well construction, giving TTRD and through tubing completion activities vital new tools in the design box. Wells can be designed with built-in flexibility to adapt dynamically to the construction process and all its unexpected challenges.

The HETS Well System puts valuable new tools in the Well Engineering toolbox to help meet the challenges of tomorrow’s wells.
